Report builder: parameters in a query & how to export excel workbook with several worksheets

$

Hello all

I have 2 questions.

first,

I have 5 datasets in my report.

each dataset contain a query for example: AlertDescription LIKE '%power%' AND Path LIKE 'abc%'

the 'abc' prefix represent a group of server names.

instead of creating additional 5 datasets for each group, i want to use parameters (but with no user input)

how can i do that?

Question 2:

I want to create a report, that when i export it to excel. the result will be excel workbook with several worksheets

(each sheet contain info on each group of servers)

how can i do that?

Thanks a lot.

ORA-01008: not all variables bound

Hi,

We are in the mid of upgrade from SQL Server 2012 to 2016. Backed up and restored report server database from old to 2016 environment and during remediation we do observe one of the .rdl that is sourced from 'Oracle' DB is throwing the above mentioned error (ORA-01008: not all variables bound). The dataset in question has one parameter(:Year) passed in its 'where' clause.

I tried,

1, Executing the particular dataset's query in source database(Oracle) providing 'year' value - Runs fine and return data

2, Preview the .rdl in local 'Visual Studio 2017(SSDT)' - Works fine and return data (Tested all the datasets in 'Query Desginer' as well)

Only when published to report manager we are facing this error.

Any suggestion is much appreciated.

Too many security audits when I load HOME folder of SSRS 2016

I'm trying to troubleshoot a problem with SSRS 2016. Our firewall is shutting down traffic to SSRS server because, as seen in Windows Security Logs, SSRS is performing ~200 security audits when the HOME folder loads.

According to the Windows Security Logs, there are both audit successes and failures (see below). The failures only happen when I don't include the domain name when I log on. If I log on with <domain>/<user>, no failures but still to many audits for firewall.

Here are the Windows Security Log and SSRS trace logs:

Hey guys, I need help with migration from SharePoint Integrated (2010) to SSRS Native Mode (2016). There is so less information out there and they definitely don't help me. If anyone know how to get this done or if you can explain one sources that you found, that would be perfect.

It's been taking a lot of time of mine since there is literally no information out there. Any help would be appreciated. Please save this man from pain.. :)

Enable CORS headers for SSRS api response.

Hi, I need to get information about KPI through SSRS 2017 api2  into my app, but when I send arequest I have got an error cause of CORS policy in browser.

I am trying to enable CORS headers for my SSRS by setting in SSMS under connection to SSRS instance values like below:

User-defined

AccessControlAllowCredential: True

AccessControlAllowHeaders: *

AccessControlAllowMethods: *

AccessControlAllowOrigin: *

AccessControlExposeHeaders: AccessControlAllowHeaders, AccessControlAllowMethods, AccessControlAllowOrigin

But it doesn't work in my case and  I am geeting response from SSRS api without that headers, maybe someone can give any advice?

Export to excel in Project Server 2013 SSRS Report

Hi There,

We have a project server 2013 with reporting services running within SharePoint as part of the setup.

The issue we have is when we try to export the report contents to Excel, word or other format it fails and throws correlation errors. However, the export works when we reduce the report data by filtering using the report parameter or if we completely remove the interpretation of HTML tags within the report.

We have done the following but with no success.

1. Upgraded project server 2013 to the latest cumulative update (march 2020).

2. Upgraded SQL server with the latest cumulative patch as given in this article (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3180980/can-t-export-a-report-as-an-excel-workbook-when-the-interpret-html-tag).

3. Applied the HTTPRUNTIME  "maxRequestLength" and executionTimeout as per the article below.

https://www.codeproject.com/Tips/1110688/When-Exporting-Large-Data-from-SSRS-Report-to-Exce

Error when passing multiple parameter values to a stored procedure

$

Hi

I have a report that passes multiple parameter values to a stored procedure, I've only been able to set this up with help from discussion on here and my understanding of it is limited.

When running the report with multiple parameters for @YearGroup I get the error "Conversion failed when converting the nvarchar value '9,8' to data type int" It doesn't seem to be putting in all the apostrophes?

Thanks

This is my stored procedure:

ALTER procedure[dbo].[ANS_spSchoolCohort_AR](@YearGroupnvarchar(100),@Schoolchar(7))as

begin

SELECT*

FROM CR_CLIENTS

WHERE

(CR_CLIENTS.School1_Ref=@School)AND(dbo.fCX_GetClientSchoolYear(CR_CLIENTS.DOB,GETDATE())IN(SELECT@YearGroupFROMdbo.FnSplit(@YearGroup,','))AND(CR_CLIENTS.CohortStatus_RefISNULL)AND(dbo.fCX_GetClientSchoolYear(CR_CLIENTS.DOB, GETDATE())<=10)

end

And my function for splitting the parameter is:

CREATE

FUNCTION[dbo].[ANS_fSplit_AR]

(

@List nvarchar(2000),

@SplitOn nvarchar(5)

)

RETURNS@RtnValuetable

(

Id intidentity(1,1),

Value nvarchar(100)

)

AS

BEGIN

While(Charindex(@SplitOn,@List)>0)

Begin

Insert

Into@RtnValue(value)

Pass pagination variables to a Oracle Query in SSRS 2016 and restrict date filters on calendar

Hello, Forum.

I am creating a report in SSRS 2016. The database I'm connected to is Oracle 18c.

Number 1

I need to know how can I pass the parameter in the query to use pagination (OFFSET/FETCH, etc.) and go through the results per page. I want to paginate 50 rows per page.

Image the query is like

SELECT column1,column2,column3 FROM table1 WHERE column1='SOME_FLAG'

Number 2

How can I restrict date filters on reporting services? Because if I have a date filter in my report, a calendar is shown but I want to restrict it to one month so users can no access beyond it.

Thanks in advanced.

Multiple Image in report

Hi to all

I would need to insert in a report all the images that are present in a specific folder, and if possible also mosaic thumbnail style.

At the moment I have inserted an expression
="file:\\xxx.net\dfs\FotoUsati\xxx" & right(First(Fields!PICPATH1.Value, "Ds_Vehi"),18) & Sum(Fields!VEHIID.Value, "Ds_Vehi") & ".jpg" and works but take only one file

where the first part takes me the specific path while Sum(Fields!VEHIID.Value, "Ds_Vehi") & ".jpg" gave me the file name, however instead of a specific name I should insert all the jpg that are in that folder

is that possible?

Thanks

SSRS Category Axis Problem

Sorry but I am unable to upload picture until my account is verified....

I am currently working on a dashboard report for engineers performance and seemed to have found some rather strange behaviour that I can not seem to fathom out.  The report consists of a number of similar charts showing several different KPIs that the business relies on.  I tried to highlight a selected category selected by the user but some charts work and some others fail.  After searching around the data trying different things I found what the problem is but unsure what needs to be done to stop the problem.

Basic Report with no highlights works correctly, data sorted ok.

Labels on first columns correct with data expected.

Selecting a person to highlight depending on values for AB

Both charts have the correctly highlighted category and labels on axis are correct.

Selecting first category on the top chart (which is the one that works correctly).

Again both charts have a correctly highlighted category.

Choosing to highlight the first category in the bottom chart the following happens.

The category label for the first column is incorrect it instead duplicates one off the other categories, but the data value is correct.  This is only happening on the first column of some charts.

By adding in a dummy row of data so that the data for CH is in column 2, the highlighting works see below.

Any ideas on what I need to do to sort the problem out.  Adding the extra data is possible but looks untidy, I can blank out labels etc, but adding filter to chart creates the same problem.

Thank you

Jason

Can't connect to SSRS in SSMS??

Hi Reporting Services experts,

I've installed & configured SQL2017 EE & SSRS on a server per normal procedure I've done a hundred times, but for some reason am unable to connect to SSRS (ie: MYSERVER\SSRS) in SSMS on this machine. I've checked permission of 'NT Service\SQLServerReportingServices' account in file system and SQL instance level & it matches permissions of other servers where I CAN connect to SSRS.

Here is the error message when I try to connect to SSRS in SSMS:

===================================

Cannot connect to MYSERVER\SSRS.

===================================

Unable to connect to the server at MYSERVER\SSRS. The specified URL might not be valid or there might be a problem with the report server version or configuration. Specify a different URL, or contact your server administrator to verify that the report server runs SQL Server 2008 or later. Additionally, if you are trying to connect to a SharePoint-integrated report server, verify that SharePoint is installed on the server and that the report server uses SharePoint integrated mode. ======================================================================

rsreportserver.config file basically matches that of other servers where I CAN connect to SSRS in SSMS,

I've tried changing webservice url & webportal url in RSCM & restarted SSRS service, changed them back, restarted service. I even changed startup account for 'SQL Server Reporting Services' to 'Local System' account & restarted service, but still get failure to connect to SSRS, which rules out any missing file system permissions.

Can anyone see something I am missing or think of anything else I need to check, in order to troubleshoot this issue?

Thanks in advance,

I would like the color of a text box to be based on the derived value of the text box and not on an expression

$

The value of my text box (Textbox128) is derived by an expression which references 5 fields from a dataset.

Instead of having the color expression of that text box also reference the long expression, like:

=IIf(
	(	Fields!Shippable_By_EOM.Value
		-(Fields!AtRisk.Value * IIf(Fields!RemainingBusDays.Value <= 5, 1,
								IIf(Fields!RemainingBusDays.Value <= 10, .5,
									.25
									)
								)
		)
	)+ Fields!Invoice_MTD_Sales.Value
    - Fields!Invoice_MTD_Budget.Value < 0, "Red", "Black")

... it would be much cleaner and easier to have the color only reference the result of the text box expression, like:

=IIf( Tablix1.Textbox128.Value < 0, "Red", "Black")

... i.e. If the text box value is negative then foreground color is RED, else BLACK.

Is this possible?

Thank you in advance!

Hi All,

Getting below error when trying to run report in SCCM. Can you help fixing it.

aggregates in report builder

Hi,

I have a requirement where i have to replicate the measure "ChangePercent" below in sql and show measure summary value and detailed grouped by vendor and model.

ChangePercent(aggregated value or measure)=divide(calculate(count(GroupCode),Difference>1),count(GroupCode),0)

I have staged the data below in sql table and tried to replicate the measure but the problem is I am unable to get the correct summarized measure by aggregating the detail(grouped by vendor,model) values of the same measure.I am aware that this is the expected behavior but how do i create this calculation as a measure in the SSRS and also show the values grouped by vendor and model.

SELECT [vendor],[model]
,Cnt_filtered=
(
SELECT count(b.[GroupCode])
FROM sample b
WHERE b.[Difference] > 1
and b.model = a.model
AND b.[vendor] = a.[vendor]
GROUP BY b.[vendor],b.[model]

,Cnt_Unfiltered=count(a.[GroupCode])
FROM sample a where a.[MODEL] is not null or a.[vendor] is not null
GROUP BY [MODEL],[Vendor]

I calculated base columns that will be used by the measure:

calculate(count(GroupCode),Difference>1)= Cnt_filtered

calculate(count(GroupCode))=Cnt_unfiltered and then plan to divide Cnt_filtered/Cnt_unfiltered

I want to be able to store the measure value per model and vendor and also be able to achieve the summarized value of the measure without grouping .How can i do that in sql or measure in ssrs

select [vendor],[model],coalesce(cast(Cnt_filtered as float)/cast(Cnt_Unfiltered as float),0) ChangePErcent from (SELECT [vendor],[model]
,Cnt_filtered=
(
SELECT count(b.[GroupCode])
FROM sample b
WHERE b.[Difference] > 1
 and b.model = a.model
AND b.[vendor] = a.[vendor]
GROUP BY b.[vendor],b.[model]

,Cnt_Unfiltered=count(a.[GroupCode])
FROM sample a where a.[MODEL] is not null or a.[vendor] is not null
GROUP BY [MODEL],[Vendor]

)x

I am able to achieve correct and summary detail values in powerBI with the first query  by creating a measure" Cnt_filtered/Cnt_unfiltered " but not in SSRs:
