Hi. We have a SQL 2005 Reporting Services installation which has stopped working. The symptom is that when we run the Reporting Services service under our specific AD Account (which we refer to a Service Account), we get this error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion
However, when I run it under my own AD account it runs fine.
I have checked the password for the Service account and it has not expired - In fact, the other SQL Server services are running under the service account without a problem.
If it runs under one account and not the other then can I assume that there must be something wrong with the way our service account is configured? How does a Service Account need to be configured in order to be able to run Reporting Services?
Also, we have encryption keys set up to store Data Sources credentials . Last time this happened we had to delete the keys, which meant we lost all our stored credentials. To try and avoid this happening again, I made a backup of the encryption key after all the credentials were restored. I still have this backup - I'm assuming I can use this to get the passwords back.
