I have a SQL view in which one of the tables is a linked server (data resides in a small Excel file). The linked server table is intimately involved with the view.
The view runs quickly in SQL Manager. It also runs quickly in the SSRS Query Designer. Yet when I try to run the report, I get
"Query execution failed for dataset 'dsXXX' (rsErrorExecutingCommand)"
"Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider 'MicrosoftACE.OLEDB.12.0" for linked server 'MITCLink'"
What would cause the report to have issues with the linked table when the dataset is happy? Is the report using different credentials than those used in the Query Designer?
I should probably mention that SSRS and SQL are both running on the same server.
