I don't know if anyone else has done the same thing or if I'm the only one that noticed this, but I can't add a GROUP Footer to an existing group. Here is why the responses in every forum I've seen this question do not work for me. The "solution" is to right click on the last row in the tablix and choose Insert Row -> then either INSIDE or OUTSIDE group (below).
1. Adding a row INSIDE the group (below) keeps it in the group, but this does not add a FOOTER. It adds a detail row. I don't want my "footer" to print with every detail row. My report PDF went from 52kb to 800kb when I tried that option.
2. Adding a row OUTSIDE the group (below) definitely adds a footer, but if you read the beginning of this sentence, you'll note it is OUTSIDE the group. Therefore, it is not a Group Footer. That's more of a tablix footer.
I am currently using option #2 and the problem is that the footer might extend two or three pages beyond the last detail row - and then the headers do not show up on the extra pages. If there is no detail row on that page (inside the group), then no headers show up. Now before anyone says to set RepeatHeaderRows to True, it's already set to True. I've set KeepTogether to True and KeepWithGroup to Before or After (neither does anything, as expected - the footer isn't part of a group) and nothing changes.
Let's say I have a tablix that I created with 5 header rows, 6 detail rows and no footer. They are all in a single group. I want to modify the report to add a group footer to this tablix. I have not found a way to add a footer inside the group. Is this possible? It seems like such a simple request, but I'm not an expert on SSRS yet. I can't even add a footer outside the group and then extend the group to include the footer.
